There are tunas that can be found on coastal waters but most anglers set offshore to catch tuna. One way of how to fish for tuna is by trolling where you set lures behind a slowly moving boat, and the other is by baiting the fish and putting more bait on the water which is called chumming.
When you chose to troll for tuna, pick a lure that has a Kona head. These lures are frequently used by anglers because they create a distinctive surface action and an ideal bubble trail. Next is to set lines at the side of the boat and make sure they do not get tangled up. It is ideal to set four lines but you can set more lines provided you have the right equipment. Wait for the tuna to take the bait and land it. Put it in ice right away if you plan to keep the tuna, or you can take measurements and pictures of your catch.
Chumming is by using cut up bait and pouring it overboard to attract tuna. Wait until you have reached the probable fishing area before pouring the chum. As the tuna begin to feed on the chum cast your line with bait. They will think your bait is part of the chum making them easy to catch. After landing the fish, quickly decide whether to keep it or release it.
