Big Brother On Cbs On Dish Network Sunday August 2Nd Recap
So here's what happened on Sunday's episode of "Big Brother" on CBS on DISH: Casey "The Bitter Banana" is gone now and Jessie's reign as HOH has come to end, which means it's time for some new blood to step in and hopefully flip the house. The first 4 weeks have been dominated by Jessie and his pack, so anyone not on Jessie's side winning would be a godsend. We last left off with the endurance competition that has houseguests suspending in the air and spinning in circles like a carousel while the Powers That Be pound them with rain and other elements. Kevin drops first (after what seemed like only 3 minutes), and as a "consolation prize" for him being a quitter, he gets to pick from one of 5 boxes with a prize inside. Lucky Kevin – the box he chooses has $5,000 dollars. He tries not to act too excited (so as not to put a target on his back – too late) but we all know that inside Kevin is jumping up and down like a little girl.
Think about how many pairs of blue and purple pants he can buy with that cash! Lydia drops second, and just like Kevin, she feigns indifference as she reveals that she just won a 42 inch flat screen TV. Something made me think the rest of the prizes after this aren't going to be so sweet. Jordan goes next, and her prize is a week as a Have, meaning she will not have to suffer through cold showers or slop no matter what. The second part of her prize – she gets to pick three people to be Have-nots for the week (please pick Ronnie, please pick Ronnie) Speaking of, the pregnant Ronnie falters next, but sweet justice makes sure that his box is empty (ha ha Ronnie!) Natalie says she's sick to her stomach, and dry heaves and retches for about 10 minutes (did she even actually throw up?) before finally falling down to the comfort of the mat.
She practically tears open her gift to reveal…nothing. So now all the boxes have been opened, leaving the remaining houseguests not much incentive to drop. Chima gives up next, leaving the boys Russell and Jeff to duke it out with the sole remaining girl Michele. Michele, who admits she does not have really any friends in the house, vows to hold on because it's the only way she can ensure her safety. Not long after that, Michele falls off, though her pants get stuck and she is left dangling with her underwear exposed until the other houseguests rush in to help her. Last week a face plant in the mud and now this – poor Michele. That leaves alpha-males Russell and Jeff battling it out. The two had a shaky start when Jeff's supposed "teammate" Russell turned on him the first week for no apparent reason.
They've seem to come to good terms since then, but their time in the endurance challenge brought them even closer. Whenever there is only two players left in an endurance competition, that is usually when the deals will be rolled out. So after he asked the rest of the group to go inside while they talked, Russell asked Jeff to step down (he wanted HOH so he could get a letter from his Dad who just had neck surgery). He told Jeff he wanted Ronnie gone, and this was something they could both agree on. Jeff looked at Russell with much (understandable) doubt. He wanted assurance that he and Jordan would both be safe from nominations this week and asked Russ to swear on his father's life. Now normally I would be weary of a promise like that, but when Russell made Jeff look him in the eyes and swore on his father, I believed it. His voice even wavered a little and I thought he was going to bust a tear. Russell meant business and Jeff knew it too.
It only took a second after "the look" for Jeff to drop, and with that, Russell was crowned the new HOH. Ronnie congratulated them both with the same compliment ("You're an animal, sir"), but you could see the fear and panic in his eyes as he said it. He knew a deal had been struck, and chances were pretty good it involved him going home. With the competition over, Jordan, too sweet to cause drama, decided she would pick the Have-Nots out of a hat so as to not ruffle any feathers. The Have-Nots for the week – Natalie (who coincidentally has a Slop Pass), Kevin (who just won 5 grand so it's pretty fitting) and, thankfully, Jessie. Jessie, in his usual Jessie style, sulked off to a corner like the big muscle baby that he is.
Funny how Jessie is the first one to call someone out for not being a team player, yet he's the worst one of them all when it comes to not getting what he wants. Go cry all you want Jessie, you're still eating slop (oh and the squid and squash that America has so gratefully provided for you. Enjoy!) Anyway, back to the HOH, Russell gives everyone the usual tour of his bedroom and reads a letter aloud from his Dad. Afterwards, Jessie and Natalie put their heads together and worry that Russ, who they view as not really being on their side 100%, will put one or both of them up. Lydia (reeking so much of desperation I'm surprised Russ didn't kick out her out due to the stench) wormed her way into Russ's HOH bed and told him that he has "gotten so much sweeter since he won." Russ could obviously see how transparent she was being and didn't seem to fall for any of her lines. Lydia has really become pathetic the way she floats almost immediately to wherever the power falls. Ronnie also needed assurance that he was safe, and Russ said he was. Hopefully he will stick to the deal he made with Jeff, otherwise he's going to lose a lot of respect in the house. One important thing to remember – these are the people who are voting for you if you make the Final Two. You can't burn all your bridges. Nomination time. Russ pulls Jeff's key. Good, he kept to his end of the deal. Jordan's safe too. Jessie and Natalie both breathe a huge collective sigh of relief when they pull their own keys, and soon we're left with Ronnie and Lydia on the block.
Ronnie looks sullen and Lydia just looks blank. Russ makes a scathing analogy speech to Ronnie in which Ronnie is the snake and Russ is the mongoose. Mongooses eat snakes, get it? Not the best anaology he could have used to get his point across, but it worked I guess. Although it did give Ronnie a chance to tell America that he may be a snake, but he's a King Cobra, and "sometimes" the King Cobra kills the mongoose. Can we just stop with the animal analogies please? Overall, I couldn't be happier with the nominations, and I'm also thrilled that Russell is a man of his word. I have to admit my opinion of him has changed in the last two weeks. He went from being a hothead with a 'tude to a pretty decent guy and smart player, plus I can't help loving anyone who wants to kick Ronnie to the curb. So until Tuesday, when we will find out who wins the Power of Veto and the Coup D' Etat, stay tuned and make sure you keep your DISH DVRs set! You don't want to miss a minute!
