Left handed scissors aren't the first place to start when crafting with children
Fun is what it's all about! You worry about keeping all of your kid happy. You are concerned with keeping your house from being torn apart. Left handed equipment can be hard to find causing you worry about having all the right stuff. Preparing for arts and craft projecst for your kids should not be stressful so don't let it be. Read on for ideas that will help make craft time more fun for everyone.
Avoid collateral damage to the surrounding area when you're all crafting. Put newspaper down on the table and on the floor under the table and the chairs. That will do two things: of course protect your home and make post-crafting cleaning-up a snap. You never know, it can keep things like tools and left-handed scissors from getting lost under something and being MIA for weeks, or months, maybe years! It will be a lot easier to keep track of where everything is and your kids will learn to be careful, as well. There are time savings involved, and that is what it's all about; a little here, and a little there. Get your kids involved in the clean up process after craft time is over. There is no reason that you have to drag yourself through the whole clean up all by yourself. Turn it into a game for your kids! What they'll do is see who put things away the fastest such as that special pair of left-handed scissors. Who can get the most crayons put away. Who can find the most amount of trash? Play a song, sing a song, dance with the music while picking up trash. The key is fun and enthusiasm on your part that is infectious to your kids.
Always try to prevent good clothes from being ruined. Do you have any old shirts laying around? Most kids have old clothes that are not still in use but can be worn indoors. Older kids can wear an apron or old t-shirt, too. You can find very inexpensive (cheap-cheap) aprons at a craft store and sometimes other stores. Protecting the clothing will save you hours of laundry later and you won't have to worry about replacing anything if some paint or ink goes awry. You also won't have to worry about someone's left handed scissors accidentally cutting into someone's sleeve if it is covered with something else. Keeping everybody happy when you work on crafts can be a challenge. You need to get everything straight and right, as best you can. The key to making craft time a happy time is to prepare for it. Have your supplies on hand (left handed scissors for the lefties, right handed for the righties). Work inside adequate space. It's always a good idea to have more than adequate supplies of whatever is needed. The most important thing is to always have a great time while crafting with your kids.
