Install Kitchen Cabinets By Making Sure They Are Level
It is my suggestion that if you have a rental store nearby, make a trip and rent a laser level for this step of the process. You will be assured of the most accurate level line possible. Set up is very easy, and within a few minutes, you will be able to shoot the corners of the kitchen. You can then go around at each inside corner and outside corner and mark the laser line. Now you can use a chalk line to snap lines between these laser marks.
Make sure though that you follow this next step. Holding the chalk line between the marks, pull the line as tight as possible. By doing this, you will be sure that the line will not have sagged in the middle of the wall. You can go back over the chalk lines to make sure they are level by usinf the laser level again.
A four foot level will work just as well here if you do not have access to a laser level. If you do use the four foot level, you will need to be very accurate with it. By measuring up thirty four and a half inches from the high point of the floor, you can start at that point and use the level to draw the lines. If at all possible, have someone else help you with holding the other end of the level while you level it up and draw the level lines along the walls.
Now, after you have drawn out the lines on the walls, flip the level end for end and work back in reverse. If your four foot level is not accurate, this is where you will be able to tell. Only if the lines match up when you go back around the kitchen in reverse will the line be perfectly level. If by chance the lines do not align, your level is not accurate and you will need to either borrow one or purchase a new one. When you rent a laser, you will avoid any of these problems.
Not only does it insure that yout level lines will be exact, but it will save you some time in the very beginning stages of the installation. Just remember that this step is like the foundation of a house. This is where you need to pay close attention to detail.
