Spinning Rod and Reel for under $100?
I would really like to be able to spend $300 + dollars on a new set up, and I could, but I am trying to limit myself.
Help me find one! It doesn't need to come as an actual combo, I'm just looking for a decent combination for $100 or less. It's not that I can't find anything...It's that I've found too many things and can't decide. Go big on the reel? Or go big on the rod? Or split it down the middle?
All of my fishing is from the shore, in freshwater, for Largemouth Bass, and the occasional bluegill and crappie. Maybe a catfish thrown in here or there. The main focus is bass though. I throw cranks, top waters, and spinners if it makes a difference.
PS, it would be very helpful if it was a two piece rod. Not necessary, but helpful.

In my honest opinion, you need to spend (at least) $120-$140 on a decent fishing outfit. (You "could" spend less but the quality goes out the window!)
And that $100-$140 mark is relatively cheap compared to most GOOD combo prices!
Anyway, here are some inexpensive suggestions:
Reels
1. Pflueger, President 6735 - This is the current "best bang for your buck" reel you can purchase. IMO, this would be great reel for covering a wide variety of fish species- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores…

Any cheaper reel you might find won't be worth your time, (unless on sale). $40 is the lowest you would want to go for any reel, (and $60-$70 would be the norm).

If your on a budget, ALWAYS spend more on your reel than your rod- a reel has "moving parts"! Cheap reels tend to be a waste of money....in contrast, cheap rods may not be "optimal" but they can be functional.........
