Do you love fishing? During the early years, fishing was the primary means of livelihood. Fishermen explore the sea to get the biggest fish and take them home to their families. But today, fishing does not only mean catching and harvesting fish to provide food. Fishing now has been modernized and has become a sport-either for recreation or for profession. When in the traditional fishing, fisherman uses fishing techniques such as arrows, throw nets, dragnets, rod, tackle, and harpoons. Now, there are other equipments, such as baitrunner, that have come out to make fishing more fun, exciting, and challenging.
Fishing for Sport Activity
Fishing as recreational sport can be for pure pleasure or it can also be for competition. In the years 1600s and 1700s, fishing as a recreation started. Fishing reels like the now popularly available Shimano baitrunner were then used in conjunction with fishing rods. Since recreational fishing is covered with licensing laws and rules and different restrictions, the use of nets and other traditional methods are strictly prohibited. Commonly, recreational fishing involves the use of different equipments that include but not limited to:
1. Fishing tackle. It is a basic gear or equipment that is used for fishing. Among them are rods, reels, lures and bait, lines, nets, downriggers, trawls, gaffs and harpoons, outriggers, floats, clevises, and traps.
2. Terminal tackle. It is a fishing gear that is used as an attachment to a fishing line end. Examples of these are hooks, leaders, swivels, sinkers, and snaps among others.
Shimano Baitrunner for Recreation
The most familiar practice of catching fish for recreation is the use of reels. There are so many available reels being sold but the baitrunner reel is mostly used by several fishing aficionados. It is almost the same with a fixed spool reel but is known for its baitrunner feature. This feature allows the baiting of fish even with its bail closed and still leaving the rest of the reel in free spool. The tension of the total free spool can then be adjusted with a finger screw found at the rear of the Shimano reel depending on the bait used. This is to keep the bait in place based on the desired area. If using a dead bait, tensions is loose, and when fishing using live bait, the tension is tighter.
