Adjusting Baitcasting Reel?
I have a Quantum Response RE461CX.
I put my lure on. I click the spool release and adjust the star drag to a point when my lure slowly falls down. I don't get a birdsnest when it hits the ground, I don't have it just hanging in the air, it is just slowly and nicely falls to the ground with no birdsnest. No the problem is when I start reeling in it doesn't bring my lure up!
Then I spin a the star drag to a point where when I reel in it does bring my lure up, but then when I click the spool release my lure drops down fast and I end up with a birds nest.
What am I doing wrong?
Try the little knob that's sort of behind the star drag. That adjusts spool tension. Adjust that to where your lure slowly falls when you click the lure release, and that should take care of your problem. Adjust the star drag so a fish can take line out without breaking the line.
