Tying line to bait caster?
I bought a shakespeare tidewater today, but im wondering how to tie the line on.
I want to spool 20lb braided line, but do I need to spool mono or fluro line on it first? (the reel has that little nob to tie line onto it to prevent slipping) Does anyone recommend one way over the other or if it even matters with this particular reel?
and if you do recommend putting mono line first, should it be equal lb line as the braided?
Also, random question; What size weights would you recommend using with this setup?
As for putting mono or flouro line on first, you don't have to do that. The braided line will work good. This is kind of hard to explain, but if you can get it, it works great. First start putting the line from the first eyelet on the pole and work down till you get to the reel. Then pull the line the the small eyelet on the bait caster reel. After you have done this, you wrap the line around the spool, and make a knot but don't close it, then pull the line back through that knot and pull it tight. Or you could just make a double knot, and that holds just fine.
