Baitrunner: The Shimano Reel For Getting the Big Fish
Going after the big fish? Bring the Baitrunner with you! Anyone who's ever gone fishing knows that Shimano reels are the fishing reels to bring on any fishing trip. And anyone who's really into serious fishing knows that the Baitrunner is the Shimano reel for offshore fishing.
Not only is the Baitrunner a beauty, it also has all the innovations to make you look good as well. The Shimano Baitrunner is an offshore spinning reel similar to the fixed spool reel. Its main difference lies in its baitrunner feature, which lets you bait fish with a closed bail while you keep the reel in total free spool.
The Baitrunner's waterproof drag is so easy to use. Just turn the notch clockwise to increase drag strength or counter-clockwise to decrease drag strength. To maximize the drag strength, tighten the notch fully. Give the handle a little twist and the normal drag you have preset engages. The secondary drag system lets your bait float freely and more naturally. The free spool tension can be adjusted using the control knob. Switch the Baitrunner lever to the on position to put the reel in total free spool. This secondary drag system design of the Shimano Baitrunner has never been matched by any other reel. Turn the Tension Dial to the left to decrease free spool tension or to the right to increase the tension. When you have already fished your bait in controlled free spool, you can set the hook by just turning the handle. The Baitrunner will immediately shift to drag on. This way, the drag you preset earlier will take over as the fish is put in. The Baitrunner can be shifted manually by switching the lever to the Drag On position. The Waterproof Drag is sealed against the saltwater spray and wind. The Super Stoper II removes backplay. The Power Roller III decreases line twist. And the Dyna Balance eliminates wobble when the fish is retrieved. This stabilizes the line, making it easier for you to control your catch. The Baitrunner also has 3 Anti-Rust Ball Bearings (A-RB) made from stainless steel with ten times more protection from corrosion than ordinary stainless steel. Aside from these 3 A-RB, this Shimano reel also has a roller bearing that can be switched on or off to allow some degree of backreeling.
Compared to the other Shimano reels, the Baitrunner and Socorro are the only Shimano offshore spinning reels with graphite frames, sideplate, and rotor. This distinctive feature makes the Baitrunner a light yet tough reel, optimal for offshore fishing where the catch is unpredictable. The Baitrunner also has a unique flat T-type handle rubber grip that is reversible.
