i just bought a quantum baitcast reel and found the line guide to be a little loose?
Line guide being that eye that moves back and forth upon retrieval....Is this normal?

yes it still goes back and forth
There should be a' slight bit of play in it. As long as it traverses from side ta' side and doesn't bind then ya' should be alright. If the play is so obvious, think I'd return it to the place of purchase. If ordered Online then that's a different thing meanin' that you'll have ta' ship it back and then wait on the new one 
. Have provided a' link to Quantum that you might give some thought to ie., ask the source by either email and or phone call. Don't know that I helped much but again, might want to contact the "source";)...
