Is there a special technique to use with swim baits and tsunami holographic baits ?
I fish salt water reefs and I have just bought a plastic intence swim shad 3" and tsunami holographic 4 " squid , my question , what is the technique that work best for both and are they for botom or surface fishing ? Thanks for every one
fish the swim bait from the top down and the squid from the bottom up
if the swim bait's tail isn't moving back and forth giving the bait a lively action ( trick # 243 ) cut a vee shape out of the top of the tail, I use my teeth to bite the vee into them and spit the chunk out. The tail will really move back and forth. I like to work swim baits parallel to the rocks from the surface down and twitching the rod giving the bait as it drops a spastic twitch (it triggers strikes from true predators) close your drags down and use a stiff tip rod (heavy action) to pull the grumps out of their holes..... Also cast the swim bait into any boiling water especially any bird action on the surface and let it drop un restricted by the line..... with the squid I would drop to the bottom and work it the exact opposite by bringing it up off the bottom and dancing it every crank while moving my rod tip from left to right during one dance and right to left switching direction trying to make the squid look like it is rising to the surface while making little circles in the water actually more like a spiral staircase up.
