what is a good pike fishing rig for trolling a dead bait behind a boat?
like the question above states, basically i am looking for a good diagram or link to a setup showing how to make a rig for trolling dead bait for pike from a boat.

I'll take a quick shot at this...
If you've got the option of trolling a live minnow, do that...
Rig it on a 'quick-strike rig' (two trebble hooks...one in the lips and one in the back), below a bobber with a weight just ahead of the minnow to keep it down. This is a very common way to fish for Musky too...troll very slowly along weed edges with this rig.
If you have to fish with a dead bait...
- Consider putting it on a spinner rig, like a Erie Dearie, or a large trolling harness (like a crawler harness, but with 2 hooks)...the spinners on these rigs will help give some flash and action to your otherwise dead bait. The Erie Dearie has a weight right on the rig. I'd put a weight on the line if you're using a spinner rig, or use a bottom bouncer if you want the bait just above the bottom.
- You can use the quick-strike rig that you would use for live bait on a dead bait too...and give it a little action. Hook the first hook in the head, then put a slight bend in the minnow's body, and hook the second hook in the side, so that the minnow holds that bend. This is called "Wabbling" (no, I'm not making this up). You can put an in-line sinker ahead of this, or use a bottom bouncer rig.
I love catching fish that with teeth...go get some!
