Chartruese-mystical properties?

I've recently read the novel Lost Souls by Poppy Z Brite, and am very interested in the drink Chartreuse.I was wondering if its true that it glows in the dark, and that if you drink enough of it your eyes will turn bright green? Or was that just the author using artistic license for dramatic effect?

I also tried Chartruese because of Lost Souls. It didn't make my eyes turn green & it didn't glow. It didn't taste so great, either, but it is cool that it's made by monks.
