Virginia Saltwater Fishing Piers
Saltwater anglers are fortunate to have an excellent selection of Virginia fishing piers. They are located in a variety of environments, including the Eastern Shore, Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, Hampton Roads and the Virginia Oceanfront.
Virginia Beach Fishing Pier
The Virginia Beach fishing pier is a very popular and productive fishing spot. Anglers of all ages, sexes and skill levels congregate to enjoy a fun day on the pier. The pier is located on the boardwalk in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Sea Gull Fishing Pier
This is a good local pier to fish from. It lies on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and extends into the bay. Trout, croakers, spot, bluefish, tautog, striped bass, spanish mackerel, cobia, small sharks and even black drum are sometimes caught here. Daytime fishing can be productive and at night, bait congregates under the lights, attracting predators.
Ocean View Fishing Pier
The new Ocean View Fishing Pier offers anglers excellent fishing opportunities. The 1690' long by 16' wide pier was constructed after Hurricane Isabel destroyed the original Harrison's Fishing Pier. The structure features a 48' wide T section at it's end and extends into the Chesapeake Bay between the Chesapeake Bay bridge Tunnel and the Hampton Roads Tunnel.
James River Bridge Fishing Pier
This pier is one of the longest fishing piers on the East Coast. Located in Newport News, the pier is open from April through November. Croaker and spot are caught throughout the season while striped bass, flounder, gray trout, and red drum also arrive at the pier at various times. A bait shop is on site.
Grandview Fishing Pier

Buckroe Beach Fishing Pier
The Buckroe Beach Fishing Pier was rebuilt by the city of Hampton and re-opened in 2009 after being destroyed during Hurricane Isabel. The pier is famous for its excellent fishing for cobia, croakers, spot and other fish.The 706-foot pier is located at 330 S. Resort Boulevard, near Point Comfort Road. The new pier, supported by concrete pilings with wooden decks and railings, is 16 feet wide and is equipped with rest rooms, a snack bar and bait shop.The "T" section at the end of the pier is 70 feet wide and 26 feet long. The pier has lights to attract fish, handicapped accessibility, parking, two fish-cleaning stations and shelters in case of severe weather.
The Sandbridge Pier
The Sandbridge Pier, also known as the Little Island Fishing Pier is a popular Virginia fishing pier. The structure is located approximately 15 miles from the Virginia Beach Oceanfront/Resort Area. Species caught from the pier include spot, croaker, red and black drum, cobia, Spanish and king mackerel, pompano, flounder, whiting, bluefish, speckled trout, weakfish, blacktip sharks, skates and stingrays.
